This blaster can hold up to 35 darts at a time which are released from the barrel magazine bullet drum on the top. You fire by using a pump action system. The bullets dont' fire as fast as the Nerf Vulcan, because each bullet needs to be reloaded as the magazine turns around, but it is still quick enough for some battle action. The magazine round is great and doesn't jam, and it can also be used on the recon or longshot as well (if you have those nerf guns). The drum does take up some space, but it allows you to fire off the darts really quickly and the reach quite a good distance (which means sometimes you have to find where they went!). It also allows for the most amount of darts loaded at one time compared to the other Nerf blasters. There are two modes of firing: pump-action and slam fire. Pump action works like a longshot or pump action rifle would, whereas slam fire is much more like a semi-automatic would work. Nerf never dissapoints and Hasbro has done a great job with this model.
